Testing of the 2019 Lisbon of the new Renault Master ZE
Renault Pro + will offer this van in multiple versions, accompanied by a specialised network and customised transformations depending on the needs of each job
Renault has presented the new Renault Master ZE electric van in Lisbon, one more step towards the electrification of last-mile urban transport. It has 120 kilometres of real autonomy and the same load capacity as its combustion brothers.
Renault showed more than a year ago, at the Brussels Motor Show, the electric version of its larger capacity van, the Renault Master ZE. Yesterday, in Lisbon, Renault Pro +, presented this model for the press and began its commercialisation by completing its range of electric commercial vehicles.
With a size superior to the Kangoo ZE, the Master ZE arises in response to the need for the last mile distribution in cities where access to the most central areas is being limited and new regulations favor the use of zero emission vehicles.
The new Renault electric model is incorporated into the segment of large vans, which at the moment has little competition if we focus on zero emission models. Merchandise distribution companies have seen an increase in the distribution of large volume and low weight packages as a result of online sales. This need for greater volume of space and less weight is reflected in the adaptation of the Renault Master to the Renault electric family, which has 475,000 customers in Europe (Kangoo is the leading VE sales in Europe in its category with 35 , 8% market share).
The conversion maintains all the qualities of its combustion sisters in terms of space and possibility of loading. Renault Pro + will offer this van in multiple versions, accompanied by a specialised network and customised transformations depending on the needs of each job. Six versions with three lengths and two heights will be offered, with volumes of between 8 to 13 m3 and loads of between 1,000 and 1,100 kilograms.

Its electric motor R75, based on the Zoe and manufactured at the plant in Cleon, France, is able to develop a power of 57 kW (76 hp), and move the van at a maximum speed of 100 km / h. It incorporates an Eco mode with which the performance of the engine is limited to increase the autonomy: the acceleration is reduced and the maximum speed is limited to 80 km / h.
It incorporates the battery of new generation of LG Chem of 33 kWh, with improved chemistry, which also mounts the Kangaroo ZE, housed in the lower part of the vehicle, which gives it a range of 120 real kilometres (200 kilometres homologated under the cycle NEDC ), sufficient for the urban work to which it is addressed. The full recharge of your battery is achieved in six hours in a wallbox with a power of at least 7.4 kW. Renault will offer the possibility of buying or renting the battery.
The 41 kWh battery of the Renault ZOE ZE40 did not fit the face of the Renault Master without losing space. The need for adaptation would have meant a delay in the release of the Master ZE and Renault's intention was to be the first in this segment.
Driving sensations of the Renault Master ZE
The test was carried out by urban and interurban stretches with a weight of 400 kilograms to simulate a real distribution.
The driving is simple, facilitated by the direct transmission of an electric vehicle that provides silence, comfort and smoothness of movement. This is helped by a soft suspension that effectively cushions the shoulders of the road.
The interior is well finished and has numerous trays to place all the necessary tools for the work of distribution.
The double plug (one on each side of the van) facilitates recharging in any situation.
Interior of the Renault Master ZE
Renault Pro + offers a series of connected services for customers of its range of commercial vehicles under the name Renault EASY CONNECT for Fleet. A telematic box installed in the van will send real-time data to the fleet manager, which can reduce the maintenance costs of the vehicle and the profitability of the deliveries.
