Ferrari 488 Track, with 720 HP and less weight
The Ferrari 488 Pista is here. For many months it has been speculated on which name would finally receive the most powerful and light version of the Ferrari 488 GTB. Following the lineage of other models such as 'Scuderia' or 'Speciale', many were those who bet on 'GTO', while we had decided to bet on Ferrari 488 Sports Speciale as the definitive denomination. However, none was right.
We already anticipated it yesterday when we showed you the filtered official photos of the new 488 Pista, shared by FerrariChat, which reveal what is the generational successor of the Ferrari 458 Speciale. But now it has been the brand itself that has revealed the 488 more beast and has done so just a few days before its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2018.
The Ferrari 488 Pista is the response of the firm of Maranello to the radical Porsche 911 GT2 RS. To face this car with guarantees, it has lowered its weight by 90 kg undergoing a weight loss diet that leaves its total mass at 1,280 kg. Not content with that reduction, the Italian brand has increased the performance of the 3.9 V8 twin-turbo engine in 50 hp, so that the total power now reaches 720 hp (20 hp more than the GT2 RS) and the torque is at 770 Nm .
In addition to the increased power and weight reduction, the more radical 488 GTB has benefited from all the experience accumulated by Ferrari in the WEC with the 488 GTE and 488 Challenge competition. This has allowed to increase the aerodynamic support by 20% compared to the model on which the 488 Track is based thanks to the introduction of new components, such as an aggressive rear diffuser or a more pronounced spoiler.
The dynamic behavior of the supercar has also been optimized, with changes in both the electronic and mechanical section. The aim of the brand was to create an exciting car to drive but suitable for all users, from the most expert fighters to novices. But beware, that does not mean it is slow and if not, pay attention to the following data:
The Ferrari 488 Pista goes from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.85 seconds, from 0 to 200 km / h in 7.6 s and is capable of reaching a top speed of over 340 km / h.
