Audi e-tron prototype: advance of the first electric model
Audi continues its journey towards electrification with the latest prototype that has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show 2018 in a vision very close to the final production model. It is called Audi e-tron prototype and several units of this concept car have toured the streets of the Swiss city before entering the scene to be presented with the new Audi A6 2018.
This is the latest approach of the brand to the definitive version of the all-electric SUV, as those responsible for the brand have confirmed that the production vehicle will be officially unveiled on August 30 in Brussels. In the months that remain until this date, Audi will test a complete fleet of 250 units with this characteristic camouflage on public roads across Europe.
Audi e-tron prototype: the anteroom of the electric SUV
With a design reminiscent of the new Audi Q5, the e-tron prototype is covered in camouflage, but we can see a completely LED headlights with more aggressive shapes and a front grille redesigned with longitudinal slats, but with a configuration almost completely closed, which improves aerodynamics and, consequently, reduces energy consumption.
The rear is starred by two key elements, the spoiler located at the top and the rear optical box that is a single piece of LED separated into three sections as already happens in the new Audi A8. Sports tires and rear-view mirrors that have been replaced by cameras, as well as plates with the inscription 'e-tron' on the front wings, put the finishing touch. While we do not currently have images of the interior, the German company has ensured that it has space for up to five passengers.
No technical details have been disclosed about its propulsion system, apart from the fact that it is an electric car and that it will have a total traction system, which now receives the name of e-quattro. What we do know is that you can make fast charges of up to 150 kW, while the Ingolstadt firm ensures that the Audi e-tron prototype will need 30 minutes of charge to be ready for "the next stage of the long distance trip".
