2018 Citroën C5 Aircross - Release Date second half of 2018
Inspired by the Citroën C-Aircross Concept, which was already advancing the lines of a new SUV at the 201 Shanghai Motor Show, Citroën continues to expand the offensive in the compact SUV segment with the Citroën C5 Aircross. The SUV is a vehicle concept that represents about a quarter of sales worldwide and that responds in an aspirational manner to the expectations of customers. With this new model, the French manufacturer demonstrates its ability to reaffirm its identity and to renew the style whatever the segment at stake. The Citroën C5 Aircross will be marketed from October 2017 in China. Its arrival in Europe is scheduled for the second half of 2018. With a strong personality, the C5 Aircross is distinguished by a very energetic attitude and full of security, both in the exterior design and in the interior. Its exterior style has a robust and very muscular design that stands out for the elevated hood, a 2.73m battle, the short overhangs and the fluid volumes along the body that contrast with various graphic elements.
The C5 Aircross distills a very bold identity in the segment. Thanks to its floating roof and the continuity of the 360 ° glazing, thanks to the black windscreen uprights and in the rear part that connect perfectly with the rear window, the C5 Aircross has a strong identity and a lot of presence. The front, wide and imposing, shows its identity with the chevrons and the bright signature with 'Full LED' technology in two levels on a pretty impressive calender. The superior optics, which include the daytime running lights and the flashing set, are clearly bounded by a chrome line, while the lower optics are embedded in the calender, which gives the Citroën C5 Aircross a very modern and expressive look, just like the rest of the manufacturer's range.
This robust and reaffirmed silhouette is marked with the protections on the wheel arches and underbody thanks to the 'AirBumps', which give a touch of color to the set and bring modernity and character to the C5 Aircross. Its interior, configured for well-being on board, immediately expresses a great sense of space, thanks to the dashboard (very horizontal) to provide a greater sense of width, the large wraparound seats, a wide central console and the use of soft and warm materials . The Citroën C5 Aircross retakes the 'sofa spirit' initiated by the C4 Cactus but reinterpreted for this new segment. The transversality is suggested thanks to the graphic continuity marked by a colored band on the top of the backs of the seats, which gives a touch of differentiation. Fluid and well-proportioned shapes appear in contrast to more graphic technical elements, for example on the dashboard. On the driver's side, the instrument cluster consists of a 12.3 "TFT digital display. In the center, the aerators and the 8 "HD capacitive touchscreen form a single block, further reinforcing the perceived robustness and modernity of the whole. Thanks to the large practicable panoramic roof and the 360 ° glazed surface, passengers are assured a great sense of space. The C5 Aircross premieres, in world premiere, a suspension equipped with 'Progressive Hydraulic Cushions' ('Progressive Hydraulic Cushions'), an innovation of Citroën that will be deployed progressively in future vehicles of the range. While a classic suspension consists of a shock absorber, a spring and a mechanical stop, this damping scheme adds two hydraulic stops-one extension and one compression-on one side and the other.
The suspension thus works in two stages depending on the requirements. With this innovative technical solution and the modular platform 'EMP2' used in this vehicle, the Citroën C5 Aircross aims to provide comfort at the highest level. In terms of on-board infotainment systems, it has the latest generation navigation system 'Citroën Connect Nav', a 3D navigation system with voice recognition. It also integrates the 'Mirror Screen' function that allows you to take advantage of smartphone applications on the touch screen in complete safety, and benefit from connected services such as weather or information regarding traffic conditions. Likewise, the C5 Aircross can have wireless recharge of the mobile phone by induction.
