2017 Volkswagen electrical BUDD-concept, Photos, Price, Reviews, Specs
Volkswagen is to let visitors 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas get up close and personal with her new boyfriend ... er, make that the 2017 Volkswagen Budd-e. The high mileage, electrical BUDD 2017 e-concept will introduce the latest innovations German manufacturers in the electrical transmission technology and advanced interactive features such as gesture control.
Budd-E Concept 2017 powered by a zero-emission engine that VW says will allow an electric only range of 233 miles (based on EPA driving cycle), only about 40 miles less than the current champion Tesla EV mileage. The battery can be charged to 80 percent capacity in the time it takes to save 15 percent or more on your car insurance with Geico, according to the automaker.
Exterior styling resembles the Nissan Cube, but with a swept-back look more rounded edges and curved profile. The front end bears a large horizontal grille, wide slats that transitions seamlessly into the wraparound headlights that stretch all the way to the front doors. A large VW emblem adorns the center of the grille and air intakes C-shaped flank the front bumper.
Character lines and what appears to be a way to increase the sliding door covering the entire profile, run through the four doors without handle. The sleek roofline gravitates back into a rear spoiler, which is bordered by a band as LED lighting that surrounds the top of the rear window as the arms of a Dungeness crab. Friendly vehicle name is engraved in big chrome letters through the back door.
Sterile, inside the 2017 VW Budd-e spartanly appointed a provision of unconventional Fort seats with two captain chairs in the front; the passenger seat swivels 180 degrees to face the rear. Rear seat consists of a seat side face opposite an open loading space. The front seats are facing a flat-screen digital display with a large group of virtual gauge and ridiculously large multimedia display surface between the driver and front passenger.
The smallish rear cargo area behind the rear seat is accessible by one, to the top-opening hatch drag-enabled feet. Additional rear loading space has the form of a slide plate behind the rear bumper, inside which there is a pair of storage tanks.
In addition to the configuration and displays inside science fiction-movie-ready is a suite of technological marvels VW says "take a quantum leap of current systems." For one, the occupants can use the Smart-car features / smart-home hybrid monitor and control things from back home while they are in the car, like the interior climate control or check to see if the children were home from school. Meanwhile, the gesture-operated Camera Control capabilities allow occupants to, say, open the back sliding door with a simple hand movement recognized by the system.
