New 2019 Citroen C1, Review, Features, Price
It was at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017 when the new 2019 Citroën C1 was introduced, the smallest model in the French manufacturer's range. Twin of the Peugeot 108 and the Toyota Aygo, measures 3.46 meters and is, as in the previous generation, available with bodywork of three and five doors, to which the Airscape version is added, with a flexible canvas roof sliding and that allows converting it into convertible (although it is not removed behind the C-pillar, as for example in the Fiat 500C).
The design changes a lot with respect to the model that it replaces, since this generation already takes the design guides started by the C4 Picasso and that followed the successful C4 Cactus. The two-piece headlamps and the LED daytime running lights stand out, as well as the black A-stack, the glazed tailgate and the square-shaped rear lights with 3D effect. It has tires of 14 or 15 inches.
Its interior is committed to freshness and changes a lot depending on the three levels of finish that the C1 can have (not all available with all body styles). The seven-inch touch screen (from the intermediate level) that can incorporate Mirror Screen technology, which allows to connect it by USB port and use mobile applications, such as the browser, is striking. Both finishes and seats improve much to those of the previous model, although behind there is not much height available. It boasts a trunk with 196 liters capacity, a good figure for its size, which is 57 liters more than the previous generation.
Initially, the new Citroën C1 has a mechanical range composed of two gasoline engines. On the one hand, the VTi 68 CV, which besides being able to equip the ETG pilot change, will have a thrifty version, e-VTi 68 Airdream (this with 5-speed manual transmission), associated with Stop & Start technology and an aerodynamic pack specific. The second, more interesting engine is the new VTi 82 PureTech. It is a gasoline tricilíndrico, 1.2 liters and 82 hp.
As the Citroën C1 barely weighs 840 kg (65 kg less, depending on the version and the engine, than the model updated in 2012), these mechanics are enough to move around town, where its turning radius of 4.80 meters allows it to move around the narrowest areas. On the road, the most powerful engine is better, but its response is quite correct. Running at high speeds is helped by the suspension with a lighter rear axle 4 kg, new springs and shock absorbers and a new stabilizer bar with a larger diameter.
