2016 Trans Am History - Photo Gallery, New Trans Am 2016
The Pontiac Trans Am was a eagle car built by the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors and was manufactured from 1966 until 2018.
The Trans Am was introduced in the same year as the Firebird, which also shared a platform with another well-known eagle car, the Pontiac Firebird.
The Trans Am's were, for the most part, powered by various V8 motors of different GM divisions. While primarily Pontiac-powered until 1982, Trans Am's were built with several different engines from nearly every Pontiac division.
All Trans Ams have always included solid rear axles, also referred to as live axles. Pontiac switched to a coil spring/torque arm rear suspension design in 1982.
