SsangYong presented its new prototype e-SIV, an electric SUV with a range of 450 kilometers
SsangYong presented its new prototype e-SIV at the Geneva International Motor Show, its vision for the emerging segment of electric SUVs. The South Korean firm proposes a nice design at the same time as striking, with a good balance between the conceptual and the distinguished, as well as some realistic technical characteristics that may suggest that the production version of this 'outsider' of the electric SUV segment is much closer to the dealers than we can believe.
The SsangYong e-SIV will have an electric range of 450 kilometres thanks to its battery pack with 61.5 kWh capacity and its 140 kW (188 HP) electric motor. Thanks to the fast recharge system of its batteries, the e-SIV will be able to recover 80% of its energy capacity in only fifty minutes, which will greatly facilitate its use in long trips.
The new SsangYong electric vehicle is "the brand's electric showcase", through which it shows the latest advances in design, electrical technology, autonomous driving and connectivity that the South Korean manufacturer intends to integrate in its future models.
The level 2 autonomous driving technology of the e-SIV uses a radar and a system of sensors and cameras that recognise the rest of cars travelling on the road and can maintain a safe distance from vehicles travelling on the road. This system can be extended by equipping an additional sensor to increase the level of automation with the automatic lane maintenance system and the active driving function to convert the system into a level 3 autonomy.
Finally, the South Korean manufacturer has provided the e-SIV with a computer system that will allow aspects such as battery charging, the infotainment system and even the remote start of the vehicle can be controlled through an application for mobile phones.
