The New 2019 GT X Experimental is a prototype SUV from Opel
The GT X Experimental is a prototype SUV with which Opel shows some features of the design that will have future production models, especially in the front and rear of the vehicle.
Its body measures 4.06 meters in length, 1.83 m in width and 1.53 m in height, so it has proportions similar to those of a Ford EcoSport, a Renault Captur or a Volkswagen T-Cross. The four side doors open at a maximum angle of 90 degrees (which is a lot), but the rear do so in the opposite direction to the front, a configuration that is colloquially called "suicide opening" and that Opel already used in the second Meriva generation.
Of the impulse system Opel limits itself to say that it is electrical, although it does not mention if it has one or several motors nor the power of the same ones. It does say that the battery is lithium-ion, which has a capacity of 50 kWh and can be recharged by magnetic induction (in addition to a plug, as usual). According to Opel, the GT X has a level 3 autonomous driving, the same as an Audi A8 year-model 2018.
The cabin is designed to transport four people and has several curious details. The speakers of the sound system, for example, are anchored to the backrests of each of the seats (and can be removed from the passenger compartment), at the ends of the dashboard there is a screen that shows the images captured by two cameras that do the same of rear-view mirrors and ventilation vents are hidden behind the screen that serves as instrumentation.
The body of the GT X Experimental is painted in two shades: Night Blue for the roof and hood and Light Gray for the rest.
