New Peugeot 508 SW: the family version is here
Although its official launch will not take place until the month of October at the Paris Salon 2018, we can anticipate the main features of the new Peugeot 508 SW. A vehicle that is presented as the most practical version of the new flagship of the gala brand, the Peugeot 508, which debuted during the last Geneva Motor Show 2018 with an image that caused a great impact due to its aggressiveness and dynamism.
With 4.78 m in length, the Peugeot 508 SW is 3 cm longer than the saloon on which it is based and 5 cm smaller than its predecessor. At an aesthetic level, it presents a groundbreaking design with a multitude of details that make it a unique candidate among generalist brands, with elements such as frameless doors. The front is impressive, has LED headlights for all functions and presents the logo "508" on the tip of the hood.
But perhaps even more impressive is the rear, with a low and stretched roofline that gives the new Peugeot 508 SW an athletic silhouette. In this area highlights the horizontal black glossy molding, which 'frames' the rear lights, also with LED technology for all its functions. The trunk is accessed through a large gate, leaving the cargo floor only 63.5 cm from the ground and offering a capacity of 530 litres expandable to 1,780 litres when folding the rear seats.
Highlights the design of the dashboard, which has the latest trends applied to the vehicles of the brand, with a board oriented towards the driver and the i-Cockpit of the gala firm. The company ensures that the quality of materials is better than ever, highlighting its extensive technological endowment with elements such as adaptive cruise control, the night vision system or the different driving assistants.
Like the sedan, the new Peugeot 508 with a family body uses the EMP2 platform of the group, which has allowed to reduce its weight by 70 kg on average. From the moment of its launch, it will be available with two gasoline blocks with 180 and 225 HP of power extracted from a 1.6 turbocharged engine and with four diesel options, with powers of between 130 and 180 HP. Later a plug-in hybrid version will be added.
