McLaren Senna 2018
McLaren has presented at the end of 2017 one of its most spectacular models as an automobile manufacturer. It is the McLaren Senna, a two-seater sports car that has indeed been christened with the name of the Brazilian Formula 1 driver who died in an accident at the Imola circuit in 1994.
This is a vehicle with very limited production. Specifically McLaren has announced that only 500 units will be marketed. This model will be manufactured in the center of Woking, Surrey (England) and the first deliveries will begin at the end of 2018. Previously those fortunate that can be made with one of these units will have had to disburse the amount of 854,000 euros.
According to McLaren this new model Senna has been conceived to be the best McLaren developed to date as a road vehicle. It is worth remembering in this regard that McLaren is a newly created automobile company, as its 'street' car division was created in 2010.
This new McLaren Senna stands out for its ultralight construction, with carbon fibre in both the chassis and the body panels. To this is added a powerful V8 engine with double turbo and located in a central position that sends its power to the rear axle.
Continuing with some of the features of the Senna we can point out that the carbon fiber chassis is an evolution of the introduced in the McLaren 720S. With this, McLaren has created the most rigid monocoque ever built. In addition, also offers a great lightness since this model stops the scale only in 1,198 kilos.
Another very striking feature is the aforementioned engine, a gasoline V8 with 4 liters of displacement and a power of 800 hp and 800 Nm of torque, which lies below the iconic McLaren P1, the most powerful model for road and circuit.
This engine transmits its power through a seven-speed automatic transmission. Also, this McLaren has different driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Track) to be able to squeeze the maximum power of the same depending on the type of driving chosen by the driver.
As for the name, from McLaren point out that they have wanted to impregnate in the car the indomitable spirit of Ayrton Senna, amplifying the legacy of the deceased pilot and 'expanding' his link with the manufacturer McLaren.
