MAZDA RX-9 2018: PRICES, DATA SHEET AND PHOTOS

Mazda RX-9 2018
For some months, rumors have been growing that Mazda is developing the new Mazda RX-9, the new model that, according to many, could return the legendary rotary engines to the Japanese brand.
This rotary engine is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular on the market and with its return, Mazda would delight many fans of the brand, who want to see a new model with this engine. However, the information that appears at the moment are very contradictory and there is no official confirmation in this regard.
In fact, in recent months has been lowering the euphoria from Mazda in this regard. It was the company's own director, Masamichi Kogai, who pointed out that the next model of Mazda is not likely to have a rotary engine. The main reasons is that it is an expensive propellant to build and with a very high consumption, and since Mazda claim that to recover the investment they need to ensure a sufficient market for a considerable time.
In fact, Kogai himself recently stated that, probably, the Mazda MX-5 that dispenses with the Wankel engines, is a more comfortable and rewarding vehicle to drive than the RX-7 and RX-8. He also noted as an inconvenience the amount of personnel that must be allocated to the design of this type of engines, more than 100 people in the factory dedicated exclusively to it.
From other sectors point however that the Mazda RX-9 itself is in design and that it will incorporate the legendary rotary Wankel. It is believed that this RX-9 will be designed on the basis of the Mazda RX-Vision (which we see in the images in this article), a prototype that the Japanese brand presented at the last Tokyo Motor Show.
As we say, at the moment there is no official confirmation in this regard. Some information suggests that the car would be presented at the Tokyo show in 2019, and that it would be marketed after 2020. But as we say, at the moment everything is rumors.
Surely many of you are already wishing speculation is over and Mazda officially confirms it. We would all like to see what the Japanese manufacturer would be able to do this time.
Mazda RX-9 2018: prices
Logically, we still do not know anything about the characteristics or the price that this hypothetical Mazda RX-9 would have. The previous models of the brand that mounted rotary engines are the RX-7, which stopped being manufactured in 2002, and the RX-8, which ceased its commercialization in 2009.
As we say, both vehicles are already discontinued, and the way to find them is the second-hand market. In any case, if someone is very passionate about this type of vehicle and wants to know what it feels like to drive a car with a rotary engine, you can get an idea of the value of the car by knowing its prices in the years it was marketed.
As we say, the last Mazda with rotary engine was the Mazda RX-8, and now we show you the prices that had in their day the different versions of this model. In total, 5 models were commercialized:
The Mazda RX-8 with 2.6 l engine. and 192 CV. It is a 4-door model with manual transmission, whose price was 34,200 euros. It stopped being officially marketed on May 31, 2009. It was the least powerful and most economically affordable version of this model.
The Mazda RX-8 with 2.6-liter rotary engine and 231 HP of power. It was sold at a recommended retail price of around 40,000 euros and stopped being manufactured on the same dates as the previous model. It already incorporates the classic rotary engine that took all the models of the RX-8
For its part, there is also the Mazda RX-8 Edition 40th anniversary. It is a version with 2.6-liter engine and 231 HP of power. It is a special model for the 40th anniversary of the brand. Its price was 40,870 euros. It stopped being commercialized officially on December 31, 2009.
Another model is the Mazda RX-8 Limited Edition, also with a 2.6-liter engine and 231 HP of power. Its price was 38,300 euros. It was the first RX-8 that ceased its commercialization, and gave way to the rest on September 30, 2007.
The Limited Edition version had an update with the same features as the previous one. In this case, its price was 39,090 euros and it was canceled on February 9, 2009.
As we say, all these models are already low and can only be purchased in the second-hand market. Still, it can give us an idea of where the price of a hypothetical Mazda RX-9 might go. Obviously, it is a sports car with peculiar characteristics and quite limited production, so its price is quite high.
