BMW SERIES 8 2018: PRICES, review AND PHOTOS
Years ago, there was a car inside the BMW brand that was a real milestone, becoming one of the emblems of luxury and power within the manufacturer. That car was none other than the BMW 8 Series, a model that now the German brand will recover for next 2018 (or 2019).
BMW 8 Series
Time moves fast and does not stop at nothing. It seems incredible that it has been 18 years since the last version of the BMW 8 Series saw the light. A model that has already come of age in terms of its absence in the market. But, despite this, there were those who did not lose hope.
The BMW 8 Series began its manufacture in 1989 and from the beginning was intended to be the spearhead of the brand in issues of performance and luxury. The vehicle, a coupe of two doors of very sporty aspect, was put on sale in different versions, with gasoline engines V8 and V12. These models had electronically limited speed at 250 km / h, although they could reach 300 km / h easy without this limitation. The vehicle was on the market for a decade, until in 1999 it stopped manufacturing.
The truth is that, despite being a model that made clear the power of BMW, sales were not too high. Some 30,000 units were sold, which is not a very high figure, but we must also take into account the segment to which the car belonged.
For some time he fiddled with the release of an M8 version, that is, an even more beast version of this model. The car would be equipped with a 6.0-liter V12 engine capable of providing about 550 hp. The beast destined to compete with supercars, was named in the German company as the Ferrari Killer. However, it was finally not put on sale since the BMW managers considered at that time that there was not enough market for him.
Almost 20 years have passed since then, and there were many who advocated the return of the luxury segment to BMW. Well, BMW has listened to their prayers and announced that they are developing a new version of the BMW 8 Series.
The new model has been presented, in the form of a concept car, in the elegance contest Villa d'Este (Italy). In this prototype you can guess what the intentions of BMW with the new Series 8, which is expected to come to market at the end of 2018 or 2019.
