AUDI R8 2018: PRICES, Review AND PHOTOS
When talking about supercars you always think of brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini. Bugatti, Porsche or even Koenigsegg. However, there are also brands that have traditionally been dedicated to other vehicles, which have also ventured into the segment of supercars, as is the case of Audi with its Audi R8.
The Audi R8 is the response of the German brand to other vehicles from rival manufacturers who wanted to prove their power. Audi did not want to be less and presented the Audi R8 at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005. A year later came to the streets a model that has marked a before and after in the line of sports, showing itself as a spectacular vehicle while compact and robust looking.
Due to the success of the model, in 2015 Audi put on the market an update of this R8. And now, there are rumors that point to Audi having some future plans for the Audi A8. Some future plans that may not be liked by everyone.
Audi R8 2018: technical sheet
The truth is that Audi did not have much experience in the world of supercars before launching the R8. At best, his most recent experience goes back to sports models such as the TT, manufactured since 1998. Therefore, perhaps the first steps of the R8 were not as satisfactory as expected in Audi.
To solve some problems in the engine of the first generation, the German brand turned to one of the big manufacturers of the supercar segment: Lamborghini. It was the Italian brand that lent them the Lamborghini Gallardo engine so that the Audi R8 reach really high levels. And boy did he.
And the fact is that the second generation has perfected what seemed impossible to improve, and you could even say that Audi has risked enough in some aspects, as in the almost complete remodeling of the interior.
On the outside, the highlight is perhaps the increase in size of the car, which gains 4 centimeters in width (maintains the same length of 4.42 meters). You can also see some even more compact lines, characterized by the absence of overhangs, one of the great enemies of the owners of this type of vehicle. It also highlights the remodeling of the headlights that stops being so oval to opt for a sharper and sportier design.
Of course, we have already talked about the engine, one of the main gems of this car. It is a V10 engine of 5.2 liters, capable of offering 540 HP of power in the normal version, and go to 610 HP in the Plus version. This makes it a real racing car, at the level of supercars of much more usual brands within the sector (although far from the hypercars type Bugatti Veyron or Koenigsegg One, which cost millions of euros).
Audi R8 2018: prices
It is a luxury supercar, therefore, we can already make the idea that it is an expensive car. However, it does not have too much to envy other rivals of the competition that cost much more.
The Audi R8 Coupe 5.2 FSI V10 Quattro S-Tronic is a 540 hp racing car. Its consumption is quite high: 6.7 / 8.4 / 11.4 liters. Its price is 191,870 euros.
The Audi R8 Coupe 5.2 FSI V10 Quattro S-Tronic Plus has 610 HP and a consumption of 17.5 / 9.3 / 12.3 liters. It costs 214,870 euros.
