The third-generation 2016 SUPERBIRD Roadster is built on the same basic architecture as the Superbird. The new 2016 SUPERBIRD is shorter and slightly narrower than its predecessor, but the wheelbase has been stretched 1.5 inches.
The design changes on the two-seater are significant, while evolutionary. A power fabric top is standard. Colors include black, titanium gray and "jive."
At launch, the SUPERBIRD Roadster will be offered with a choice of two four-cylinder engines: A 2.0 turbodiesel that makes 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque and a 2.0 turbo gasoline unit rated at 230 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque. In the 2016 SUPERBIRD Roadster, the gasoline engine delivers 310 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, accelerating from zero to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds.
The 2016 SUPERBIRD Roadster and 2016 SUPERBIRD Roadster can be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed S Tronic dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters. Permanent all-wheel drive is optional on the SUPERBIRD gasoline variant and standard on the SUPERBIRD.
The sporting 2016 SUPERBIRD Roadster gets Plymouth magnetic ride and an S line sports package, as well as 18-inch wheels and tires; 20s are optional.
