It would be tempting to imagine at the sight of this concept that Toyota is preparing a kind of road version of its LMP1 running at Le Mans. A car that would then be the heir to the very rare GT-One "road car" (two copies only) produced in 1998 for reasons of homologation.
However, for the moment, this is unlikely to happen and Toyota prefers to present this concept as a technological showcase, intended to promote the new range of sports vehicles, inaugurated by the Yaris GRMN.
Technically, this concept is very much in the TS050 Hybrid running in the WEC championship, including the V6 2.4 biturbo engine associated with a hybrid system THS-R. The set develops the power of 1,000 hp and there is no doubt that the weight must be almost as content as that of the competition model (875 kg).

The Japanese firm claims to aim to democratise technologies from the competition on its series models. So we can think that a powertrain close enough in its design, could be used on a future model, as an extreme variant of the new Supra. Anyway, this beautiful concept, which sweat the competition but offers a much smoother silhouette than proto TS050, is enough to salivate anyone who dreams of race cars homologated for the road.
