Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2019 - Review And Preview 2019 Rolls-Royce
Rolls-Royce has just announced that its next model with bodywork will be called Cullinan. According to Rolls-Royce, the name of Cullinan is determined by a type of diamond that is characterised by being the largest diamond found in history with a size of about 600 grams.
Hence Rolls-Royce wanted to play with this term for his new model wanting to wink at the meaning of the Cullinan diamond that was discovered in 1905.
This is the second Rolls-Royce to debut on the new aluminum platform. The first was the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
This platform, in turn, is 30% more rigid than the one used in previous models. To be sure of its operation, being the first Rolls-Royce todocamino, the firm has tried it for the most remote places: the deserts of Africa, the Arctic Circle, the high lands of Scotland and the canyons of the United States.
The arrival of the Cullinan comes three years after Rolls-Royce announced officially that it would have an SUV in the range. The intention to launch an SUV is because the British company, belonging to the BMW group, wants to increase its sales to exceed 5,000 units for the first time in its history. The latest records put Rolls-Royce sales at 3,362 units.
This model will also compete with other rivals such as the Bentley Bentayga or the Aston Martin DBX, which arrives in 2019. Although this new Cullinan will be introduced in mid-2018, it will not be until the end of the year when the first orders can be made, that deliveries begin arriving in 2019.
The new Rolls-Royce Cullinan is characterized by its enormous size. It has a length of 5.34 meters in length, a width of 2.16 meters and a height of 1.83 meters. Also, its wheelbase of 3.28 meters. And its weight is 2.7 tons.
With these figures we can point out that this is one of the largest models to date. Specifically, when it hits the market, the new Rolls-Royce Cullinan will become the longest SUV on the market. To date this facet corresponded to models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, with 5.16 meters; or Bentley Bentayga, with 5.14 meters, among others.
To get an idea of how big it is, we are talking about a model that is more than 30 centimeters bigger than the Range Rover, one of the superlative SUVs to date. It is also 18 centimeters higher than this and slightly lower.
Another spectacular fact is the propeller it incorporates. Specifically we are talking about a 12-cylinder V-engine with 6,749 cc. This power unit offers a power of 571 hp (420 kW) with a maximum torque of 850 Nm available from only 1,600 laps.
The power of this motor is transmitted to both axes by means of an automatic gearbox type of torque converter and eight speeds.
Of course, so much volume, so much power and so much weight can not trigger that in a very high consumption. In particular, it offers an average expenditure of 15 liters per 100 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 341 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled.
