Porsche discovers the name of its first pure electric car will be called Taycan and it will have a power superior to 600 horsepower.
The serial production of the first all-electric Porsche will begin next year. Meanwhile, the German brand has begun to generate excitement, revealing its name: Taycan, which can be translated as 'energetic young horse' and refers to the heart of the Porsche shield, which since 1952 represents a steed with its front legs raised.
"Our new electric sports car is solid and reliable; It is a car that will travel long distances in a consistent manner and symbolizes freedom, "said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Porsche AG.
Based on the Mission E prototype, the Porsche Taycan will be driven by two synchronous motors of continuous operation (PSM) with a power superior to 600 horsepower (440 kW), which will accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 3.5 seconds and will reach 200 km / h before 12 seconds. In addition, its maximum autonomy will exceed 500 kilometers, according to the NEDC homologation cycle.

Future investment will be doubled
Until 2022, Porsche plans to invest more than seven billion dollars in electromobility, which is double what the company had initially contemplated. Of the three thousand five hundred million additional dollars, almost 600 will be used for the development of variants and derivatives of the Porsche Taycan, around one thousand two hundred million for electrification and hybridization of the existing range, 825 million in new technologies, charging infrastructure and intelligent mobility and the rest for the expansion of production centers.
Important modifications and expansion of the Zuffenhausen headquarters
At the Porsche headquarters in Zuffenhausen, a new paint shop, a specific assembly area for the Porsche Taycan and a transport bridge to take the painted bodies and the propeller groups to the final assembly area are currently being built. The engine plant is being expanded to manufacture electric units and the body building will grow equally. The company also plans to invest in the Weissach Development Center. The Taycan production is creating around 1,200 new jobs only in Zuffenhausen.
