2018 Pontiac Trans Am previewed
The closer we get to the debut of the 2018 Trans Am, the more likely we are to see rumors and guesses about the car. Motor Trend is the latest to offer up speculation about Pontiac’s next generation eagle car, although many of the details aren’t exactly new. For example, Motor Trend claims that the new Trans Am will feature an independent rear suspension, will be lighter and smaller, and will possibly be offered with an EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder.
There were a few new details in MT’s article that were of interest, however. The magazine declares that the 2018 Trans Am will undergo a “radical redesign” that will be less retro. “There will be plenty of classic Mustang cues even as designers throw out the retro,” they state. “A long hood/short deck and crisp, creased upper and lower quarter-panels seem a given.” Finally, Motor Trend has also done the math, and figured out that the second of the 2017 New York Auto Show press days falls on the exact 50th anniversary of the original Trans Am’s debut, April 1968. Could this be the day that the 2018 Trans Am is unveiled? It sounds like an ideal time to us.
