VOLKSWAGEN GOLF VIII 2018: PRICES, Review AND PHOTOS
The compact market is full of vehicles that have sold millions of units and have marked an era. Without doubt one of them is the Volkswagen Golf, which will see in 2018 its eighth generation. Undoubtedly a reason for joy for all, since VW always knows how to reinvent one of its most emblematic models.
Volkswagen Golf VIII 2018
It goes without saying that the Volkswagen Golf is one of the best-known models of the German firm, but probably one of the most prominent in the sector in recent years, as shown by its sales figures (more than 30 million units sold in all the world).
The first generation of Golf was born in 1974 and already incorporated some of the hallmarks that have made this model an icon. Mainly that modern, youthful and aggressive image, but also with a certain class. From those dates until now more than 40 years have passed and the Golf has also seen 7 generations pass by.
The last of these updates, the Golf VII, dates back to 2012, so a while ago that was already speculating with the possible departure of the Volkswagen Golf VIII. However, against what is usual, this time the German brand has even ahead of schedule. When everyone thought that the new generation of Golf would be ready by 2019, Volkswagen has said that it will reach the market sooner, apparently during the third quarter of 2018.
It seems that these are not the only plans that Volkswagen has prepared for the Golf. Another objective of the German company is to strengthen its presence in the SUV segment, a sector in which it was introduced by the Tiguan. Now, it seems that during 2019 also have in mind the development of a new SUV based on the Polo platform, and what comes more to the case, also another on the basis of Golf VIII. Even there are already some rumors that suggest that the possible name of this new model would be Volkswagen T-Roc.
In any case, returning to the eighth generation of the Golf, it is expected that it incorporates some very important innovations, especially in relation to motorization. Let's see some of these developments.
Volkswagen Golf VIII 2018: technical sheet
It seems that in Volkswagen they do not want to limit themselves to doing a simple facelift or an aesthetic restyling to the Volkswagen Golf VIII and they want the new version to be a palpable way forward compared to the previous generation.
In this sense, the first step that has taken from the German company has been to retire the engines that had served as propellants for the Golf VII. So goodbye 1.4 TSI 125/150 hp engines, and hello to the new 1.5 TSI engines with 130 or 150 hp, depending on the version.
Also the gasoline versions are going to suffer some changes in relation to their motorization. Especially since new possibilities are opened with the range of 1.5 TDI Diesel three-cylinder engines. These engines are designed to be mounted in the lower ranges of the new Golf, those that have a power that oscillates between 75 and 125 HP. In this way, like the 1.4 TSI of gasoline, the 1.4 and 1.6 TDI engines will also suffer the same fate.
Volkswagen Golf VIII 2018: prices
Well the truth is that no. At the moment Volkswagen has not said a word about the price at which you could market the new Golf, but you can always pull the prices of the previous generation to know where the shots will go. It is expected that the prices of the eighth generation of the Golf do not vary too much compared to the seventh.
So, you have to wonder that in the seventh generation of the Golf, which is still in the market, prices range from 19,690 of the cheapest model to 38,250 of the most expensive (except for the R Variant version of 300 hp, which goes to the 45,000 euros).
Therefore, it is expected that most of the models are still moving in that fork to which we have been accustomed the last generations of Golf, which tend to move between 20,000 and 30,000 euros, depending on the version and equipment that be chosen
