2018 Car Worth Waiting For, 2018 Lotus Elise Sprint, Car Class of 2018
2018 Lotus Elise Sprint
The purest of all Lotus offers, the new 2018 Lotus Elise Sprint weighs only 1749 pounds thanks to a whole series of efforts to reduce the mass. The lithium-ion battery saves 21 lbs, while the carbon racing seats save 14 lbs and the light alloy wheels have a saving of 12 lbs. Other weight reduction items are the two-piece disc brakes, polycarbonate rear screen and carbon fiber used on the access panel, roller shutter and engine cover.
The basic sprint is delivered to the aforementioned weight while using a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter engine producing 134 hp at 6800 rpm and 119 lb-ft at 4400 rpm. There is also a supercharged version, the 2018 Elise Sprint 220, which produces a much higher speed of 217 hp at 6800 rpm and 184 lb-ft at 4600 rpm. The additional power requirements mean more weight, the 2018 Sprint 221 arrives at 1876 lbs, but the performance increase is really important. The Sprint has a 0-60 mph of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 128 mph, while the 2018 Sprint 220 makes a much faster time from 0 to 60 km / h by 4.1 seconds and peaks at 145 mph. Both have excellent fuel efficiency, another advantage of Lotus's light approach, with 2018 Sprint 44.9 mpg and 2018 Sprint 220 37.9 mpg.
